Title:  Executive Director

Supervisor:  Board of Directors, Executive Committee

Status:  30-40 hours per week

Job Summary:  The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for all aspects of youth center operations.  The ED is responsible for working with the Board of Directors and Youth Board to ensure the mission of the youth center is carried out in accordance with its policies and in compliance with the contractual regulations of funders and fiscal agency. The ED should uphold the safe space regulations and work with the youth board to implement them.


  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in related field such as Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Education; Master’s degree a plus

  • Strong commitment to the mission of the youth center

  • Minimum of three years in community or youth-centered programming

  • Ability to manage stressful situations, prioritize duties, solve problems effectively, supervise staff and volunteers, and maintain professional boundaries

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills

  • Fundraising, grant management and financial management experience

  • Strong computer skills

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

Duties and Responsibilities:

Fund Development and Fiscal Management

  • Develop, implement and monitor youth center fund development goals

  • Pursue funding opportunities, including grants and contracts from federal, state, local public and private sources, and faith institution associations

  • Assist the Board of Directors with annual fundraising goals

  • Develop annual budget in accordance with agency goals and objectives


  • Supervise and evaluate Drop-In Coordinator

  • Ensure appropriate opportunities for staff supervision, training and professional development

  • Review performance of all staff and consultants, including updating job descriptions, as needed

  • Oversee maintenance of personnel files to ensure compliance with federal and state agencies

  • Participate in Personnel Committee meetings, as needed

Program Development

  • Direct and supervise the implementation of an effective service delivery system in accordance with the mission and goals of the youth center

  • Develop and implement effective program evaluation tools to ensure success of programs and services

  • Make program changes, as needed

  • Supervise implementation of contractual obligations and reporting

Community Relations

  • Develop and promote effective community, political and social service collaborations

  • Work with the Outreach Committee to develop and implement public relations campaigns to increase public awareness and participation in youth center events

Board Relations

  • Report to the Board of Directors on a regular basis on the state of the youth center and progress towards meeting its mission

  • Actively participate in all relevant Board activities and committees

  • Assist the Board in strategic planning and implement strategic plan

  • Support the actions of the Youth Board and serve as its liaison to the community


  • Salary is commensurate with experience
