Ellen Janis

President

As a financial advisor, Ellen knows the importance and value of building strong professional and personal relationships with her clients. She knows that by educating her clients about their financial choices, she can empower them to develop the strategies that fit who they are now with the flexibility to grow and change throughout their lives.


In her work with her clients, Ellen strives to build strong relationships with a solid foundation of trust and transparency with a focus on goal setting and positive forward progress. In addition, Ellen works collaboratively with her own network of trusted professionals as well as those of her clients to achieve the most successful outcomes.

Ellen joined Commonwealth Financial Group in 2015.  When presented with the opportunity to build her own practice, Ellen was thrilled to launch into a career that combined her love for helping people gain a better financial education with the skills she learned in business school.  She holds her FINRA Series 6, 7, and 63 licenses as well as her Life, Accident, and Health insurance licenses. Prior to 2015, Ellen worked for over 10 years in non-profit fundraising, most recently as the Director of Development at Bennington College. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon and her MBA from Boston University.

Ellen currently serves on the board of ROOTS Teen Center of Northern Berkshire as its President. She has also served on the boards of North Adams Chamber of Commerce, Berkshire Immigrant Center, and the Williamstown Community Preschool. She lives in North Adams, MA with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, running, reading and hiking with her dog.

 

Becky Ahamad

Secretary

Becky is currently the Artistic Director of Berkshire Dance Theatre and has been part of their faculty and staff since 2011. She was born and raised in the Berkshires and upon graduating from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts with a B.A. in English/Communications in 2011 she remained in her hometown. Becky is also a co-founder of a community dance crew called dysFUNKcrew, which has performed at numerous community events in and around Berkshire County in venues such as MASS MoCA, Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, the Colonial Theatre, the National Museum of Dance, and even for ROOTS Teen Center’s Show Your Teen Spirit!

She serves as a representative for Cheshire on the Mass Cultural Council and has serviced underprivileged youth in Cape Town, South Africa through the International Dance Exchange Program. She first discovered ROOTS in 2019 and was drawn to their mission, vision and youth driven organization immediately. Becky is excited to currently serve on the Executive Board as Vice President.

Alice Rudin

President

Alice is a general dentist and has made a commitment to practicing in the public health setting. Previously, Alice served on the Berkshire Ahec Board of Directors, serving for 3 terms and finishing her tenure there in the role of clerk. In her third year on the Board of Directors with Roots, Alice takes on the responsibility of Secretary among other roles.

She has lived in North Adams since 2006 and has three children, all of whom are teens now, with her husband and two dogs. Alice enjoys knitting, hikes in the woods, and spending time with family and and her dogs.
