Alex Hicks Courant, Drop in coordinator
Alex is a writer & workshop facilitator based in Western Massachusetts. He has worked with youth groups in creative and academic settings from Lowell to North Adams, and as a student spent time in Boston and Worcester as a participant in much of the literary events and organizations that he has since worked to support. He holds a Massachusetts Teaching License, and is in an Addiction Counselor Education program now through Fall 2019.
Christina Briggs, Intern
Christina is a student at Berkshire Community College and the current Youth Board President. She focuses her work on developing programming at ROOTS and mentoring other youth.
Paula comes to Roots with 30 years of experience managing volunteers, program management and youth services. She most recently was the director of the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program in Pittsfield, which trained volunteers to provide advocacy for children in the juvenile court system. Before joining CASA, a program of Berkshire Children and Families, she held an eight-year assignment as a tutor and regional volunteer coordinator with a program bringing K-12 education to children in homeless shelters in Los Angeles. She has a BA in English Literature from Harvard Extension.
